The band's origins trace back to frontman Brent Smith's prior band, Dreve, which had signed a record deal with Atlantic Records in 2000. History 2000–2004: Formation and Leave a Whisper To date, the band has sold more than 10 million records worldwide. Additionally, on June 3, 2021, Shinedown was ranked #1 by Billboard on the Greatest of All Time Mainstreams Rock Artists chart released to celebrate the Mainstream Rock Chart's 40th Anniversary. Shinedown has the most number one singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts with 18, and all of their released singles have reached the top 5 on the chart. The group has released seven studio albums: Leave a Whisper (2003), Us and Them (2005), The Sound of Madness (2008), Amaryllis (2012), Threat to Survival (2015), Attention Attention (2018), and Planet Zero (2022). Consistent for the first two album cycles, several lineup changes followed in the late 2000s, eventually stabilizing with Smith and Kerch alongside Zach Myers on guitar and Eric Bass on bass. Smith, still under contract with record label Atlantic Records, recruited the band's original lineup of Jasin Todd as guitarist, Brad Stewart on bass, and Barry Kerch on drums. It has a powerful bass and brilliant mid and high notes.Shinedown is an American rock band from Jacksonville, Florida, formed by singer Brent Smith in 2001 after the dissolution of Dreve, his previous band. Compared to their previous album I'd like to say that Brent Smith matured somewhat in terms of not overdoing the ballads like in the remake of "Simple Man" where at times he seemed to get carried away and overdo it to a point where it sounded tacky! I also found that this CD was recorded and mixed well, so that it will get the best out of your stereo equipment. To me leadsinger Brent Smith is mostly responsable for the mood and sound changes throughout the album. For me the album's sound marks a nice fusion of "Crossover" and "Old School Metal" with a range that will include everything between "Soundgarden" and "Pink Cream 69 (also PC69)". "Us And Them" was my first Shinedown album and I was pleasantly surprised! I found bits and pieces from sounds of other bands that I like to listen to mixed well and executed brilliantly. Buy it here or better yet, go and buy it now at your local FYE, Best Buy, or Wal-Mart. Buy Us and Them AND Leave a Whisper! My preference is Us and Them but a lot of my friends like Leave a Whisper. Trust me, you wont regret it for a second. If they come in a 200 to 300 mile radius of my house, I'll be there to see them perform! If you get a chance, go and see them! Tour dates can be viewed on their website You will NEVER forget the first time you see them live. I went to Atlanta to see them again on the Sno-Core tour where they co-headlined with Seether and that concert confirmed my love for them. I went to see them open for 3 Doors Down in Columbus, GA a few months ago and they were incredible! The day after the concert I went and bought Leave a Whisper and then I had to painstakingly wait for 3 months for the best X-mas present EVER! Us and Them has literally not come out of my CD player since X-mas and will stay there for a long time from now. This is the most underrated band I have ever known.
